Carey Mulligan Shines at London Film Festival Premiere Amidst Charity Success
The acclaimed actress graced the red carpet for "Wildwood" while also celebrating a significant fundraising achievement for Children In Conflict.
Carey Mulligan cut a chic figure in a white satin gown at the London Film Festival premiere of "Wildwood" on Sunday. The actress, 41, showcased her silhouette in the long-sleeved ribbed dress featuring a short flared train.
Mulligan completed her ensemble with sunglasses, posing for photographers on a sun-drenched red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall. Her blonde hair was styled in curls, complemented by striking gold drop earrings and towering heels. She paused to sign autographs for fans, appearing in good spirits.
She reunited with "Wildwood" director Travis Knight, 53, who wore a tailored grey double-breasted suit. Also present at the premiere was actress Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who opted for a green strapless gown.
This appearance follows a successful charity benefit hosted by Mulligan and her husband, Marcus Mumford, which raised over £5.78 million for the Children In Conflict charity. The event, held at Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre, marks the largest sum ever raised by the couple for the organization.
Mulligan expressed her gratitude, announcing the impressive total and noting it was their most successful fundraiser to date. Mumford highlighted that the funds will support over one million children in war-torn regions.
Children In Conflict is dedicated to protecting, educating, and providing mental health support to children in areas affected by war and conflict globally. The charity benefit featured a notable guest list, including Emma Watson, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Courteney Cox, Kristen Bell, and Dax Shepard. Musical performances were provided by Mumford & Sons, Brandi Carlile, Sierra Ferrell, and Jensen McRae, with readings by Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis.
While the couple has previously hosted events in London and New York, this was their first Children in Conflict fundraiser in Los Angeles. Children in Conflict CEO Rob Williams expressed enthusiasm for the growing support in LA, indicating plans for more events in the city next year.
This event comes after Mulligan was honored with a CBE by King Charles at Windsor Castle earlier in the summer for her contributions to drama. She was accompanied by Mumford at the ceremony. The couple has three children: Evelyn, eight, Wilfred, five, and a third child born in September 2023.
