A car was deliberately torched at Kelvinside Motor Company on Saturday, an incident that has fueled fears of rising gangland violence. The fire occurred days after police had responded to a "disturbance" at the same property.

This event comes despite Police Scotland's recent announcement that an ongoing gang feud across central Scotland had been resolved. Operation Portaledge, according to the force, had led to numerous arrests and a "resolution of differences" between rival groups.

However, reports suggest a flare-up of violence, with the Daily Record newspaper detailing alleged orders for attacks on rival clan members. The conflict, which reportedly began in Edinburgh in March of the previous year, has been linked to a dispute between Ross McGill, formerly associated with Rangers FC's fan group the Union Bears, and Edinburgh drug dealer Mark Richardson, who is currently incarcerated. This dispute has led to a series of fire bombings and attempted murders, with 84 separate incidents reported in total.
