A car crashed through the front of the Aēsop store on Larchmont Boulevard in Los Angeles on Monday morning, shattering the glass storefront and causing the metal window frame to collapse onto the vehicle.
The driver of a Honda Element drove through the entrance of the luxury soap shop, leaving onlookers stunned. Social media footage showed the driver, who was reportedly wearing glasses and a striped bucket hat, still seated in the driver's seat moments after the collision. Pedestrians and shoppers gathered around the damaged vehicle in disbelief.
Witnesses directed the driver to turn off the car and surrender her keys, according to the Larchmont Buzz. First responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department and LAPD arrived quickly, securing the scene with police tape to prevent injuries from shattered glass.
An LAPD spokesperson told The California Post that the driver was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and there was no indication that a mental health crisis was involved. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police stated that all parties involved exchanged information at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the extent of the damage to the Aēsop store has not yet been released.
