Car Influencer and Hooters Calendar Girl Die in Fiery McLaren Crash
Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision that split the supercar in two, killing both occupants.
A fatal crash involving a McLaren supercar in Irvine, California, on Saturday resulted in the deaths of 27-year-old car influencer James Wehr and 22-year-old Alexis 'Lexi' Kramer, identified as a 2026 Hooters calendar girl.
Irvine Police Department officials stated that speed was believed to be a contributing factor in the incident, which occurred around 12:20 a.m. According to Officer Ziggy Azarcon, Wehr lost control of the 2019 McLaren 720S, causing it to strike a curb and then a tree. The impact split the vehicle in half, leading to a fiery explosion that killed both Wehr and Kramer.
Prior to the crash, Wehr had been stopped by Newport Beach Police for a traffic violation and received a warning approximately one hour before the fatal collision. Police confirmed that Wehr was driving at the time of the incident, as evidence indicated a female passenger was in the passenger seat, not the driver's seat. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Kramer, a bartender from Florida, had reportedly met Wehr through Instagram. Her family stated that Wehr had flown her to California just two days before the crash. According to family members, Wehr had told Kramer he was divorcing his wife. The two had met in person for the first time and had dinner and drinks hours before the crash.
Kramer shared Wehr's passion for cars and motorcycles and had attended his auto show earlier on the day of the crash. A family member described her as being full of life, kindness, laughter, and sunshine energy, adding that it was a tragedy that her passion led to her death.
Wehr, the owner of South OC Cars and Coffee, a popular car show event, was remembered by friends and family. His wife, Emma, posted a tribute calling him "smart, kind, funny, loving, and genuinely one of the best people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing." His mother, Sarah Wehr, described him as a "magnificent man," and his sister, Sophie Wehr, expressed a desire to make him proud. Kramer's sister, Gracie Kramer, wrote that Lexi was her "other half" and that she didn't know how to navigate life without her.
