Car Crashes Into Pro Shop at Famed Boston Country Club, Injuring Three
Newton police are investigating the incident at Brae Burn Country Club, which occurred Saturday afternoon.
Three people sustained minor injuries after a white Mercedes crashed into the pro shop at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, Massachusetts, on Saturday.
The incident occurred around noon, according to local police. The driver of the vehicle and two employees working at the pro shop were transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Newton police are investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the incident was the result of operator error and not an intentional act. Alcohol has reportedly been ruled out as a factor.
Surveillance footage captured the car driving onto a curb in a parking lot before colliding with the building. The vehicle breached a wall located behind two employees.
The local fire department and city engineer assessed the structural integrity of the building. They determined it was safe to board up the damaged wall.
This is not the first vehicle-related incident at Brae Burn. In 2021, an SUV became stuck on the sixth hole's tee box. The driver stated that their GPS had directed them through an unauthorized area, leading them onto the course. No charges were filed in that instance.
Brae Burn Country Club, established in 1897, has a notable history in golf, having hosted the 1919 U.S. Open and the 1928 U.S. Amateur championships.
