Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) has made significant investments in improving the student experience, resulting in new Student Zones across its campuses and enhanced support services. These zones, located in Canterbury, Medway, and Tunbridge Wells, consolidate resources such as course and study skills information, wellbeing support, budgeting advice, and IT assistance.

Placement teams are also housed in the new zones, offering guidance on paperwork, health and safety, insurance, and risk assessments for students undertaking placements. These placements are a crucial part of many CCCU degrees, particularly in business, computing, and healthcare, which now feature new "Your Journey to Success" modules. Additional support for mathematics and statistics is available through the learning skills team.

CCCU, which originated as a teacher training college in 1962, now offers a broad range of courses including business and management, nursing and healthcare, law, media, sport science, and music and performing arts. The university has a strong record in graduate employment, attributed to the vocational focus of its programs. It also hosts over 500 degree apprentices, primarily in healthcare, with potential new offerings in midwifery, primary school teaching, and engineering.

Financial aid is a key component of CCCU's support system. Students from households with an annual income of £25,000 or less receive a university grant of £600 per academic year. In total, the university distributes nearly £4.5 million annually in student support. Bursaries for care leavers provide £1,200 per year, up to a maximum of £4,800. Students from over 50 partner schools and colleges in Kent and Medway are eligible for £500 in annual support. Academic excellence scholarships of £2,000 are awarded to students achieving AAA at A-level or equivalent. Additional awards are available for music and sport, and a University Advantage package for health students covers uniforms, DBS checks, and occupational health costs.

In the 2024-25 academic year, more than £840,000 in hardship support was distributed to students facing severe financial difficulties. On-campus initiatives, including a breakfast club and campus pantry, aim to alleviate cost of living pressures. Accommodation prices for the 2026-27 academic year have been frozen. In Canterbury, room prices start at £4,835 for a 39-week contract in standard rooms, with larger studios in Lanfranc House priced up to £10,199 for a 51-week let. Accommodation at the Medway campus, managed by Unite Students, costs £158 per week, or £8,058 for a 51-week contract.

CCCU utilizes a holistic approach to admissions, admitting a diverse student body without a specific contextual admissions policy. Over 95% of applications receive an offer, with foundation years available for students who do not meet direct entry requirements. The university has a high proportion of students from non-traditional higher education backgrounds and a significant number of mature students returning to education. Many students commute from deprived areas of inner London and coastal towns in Kent and Medway.

A new "Your Journey to Success" module, implemented across all degrees in the past year, addresses student wellbeing and acknowledges the university's diverse intake. This module provides first-year students with wellbeing tools, goal-setting strategies, and guidance for navigating university life. Students are assigned personal academic tutors, and the student wellbeing team offers specialized advice, one-to-one support, drop-in sessions, workshops, and counseling. Round-the-clock support is also accessible via the Spectrum.Life app and website, and the CCCU SafeZone app assists students in alerting security for urgent help or first aid.
