A Canadian woman residing in New Jersey is in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody and faces deportation after allegedly assaulting a teenage girl for wearing MAGA-branded clothing. Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, is accused of confronting a group of teenagers on the Jersey Shore during Fourth of July celebrations, berating them for their attire before slapping one of the girls.

According to court documents, the sweatpants worn by the victim were reportedly emblazoned with the words "Trump" and "ICE." Police stated that Tracey fled the scene but was identified and arrested. She faces charges including endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction. The victim reportedly sustained no injuries.

Tracey entered the United States with a passport in 2024 and had been living in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It is currently unclear if she was in the country on a spousal visa or green card.

Her husband, Matthew Geroni, shared videos on TikTok expressing distress over her detention by ICE. Geroni reportedly sought funds for an immigration attorney, stating he was "broke." A GoFundMe fundraiser initiated by Geroni to help his wife was removed, with Geroni claiming it was due to being reported by "MAGA people." GoFundMe policies prohibit fundraisers for individuals accused of crimes.

Geroni stated that Tracey turned herself in to authorities after learning of an arrest warrant. She was initially held at the Ocean County jail before being transferred to Delaney Hall, an ICE immigration center in New Jersey. In his public appeals, Geroni did not detail the alleged assault, referring to it as "irrelevant."

Social media activity attributed to Geroni includes posts wishing harm upon political figures. Tracey is scheduled to appear in court on August 4.
