A Canadian national, Kaitlyn Tracey, has been ordered deported from the United States after assaulting a teenager on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk in New Jersey.

An immigration judge in Texas ordered Tracey, 33, to be removed from the country on Tuesday. The decision came before Tracey entered a guilty plea to a single count of simple assault, a misdemeanor, in connection with the July 3, 2026, incident. She received a one-day jail sentence, which was considered time served as she had spent one night in jail previously.

Tracey, who was in the U.S. illegally after overstaying her visa, allegedly confronted a group of teenagers, including one wearing a USA-themed tank top. Police stated that she then slapped the girl across the face, an act captured on camera.

During a court hearing conducted by phone from a Texas immigration detention facility, Tracey's defense attorney, Francis Hodgson, characterized the situation as "unfortunate." He argued that Tracey had arrived in the U.S. on a passport years ago, remained after meeting her husband, maintained employment, and was a productive member of society. Hodgson also noted that Tracey took responsibility for her role in the incident and suggested the sentence was consistent with similar summer incidents on the boardwalk. The prosecution indicated that the victim's family agreed with the plea deal.
