Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Canadian national in Tampa, Florida, after a traffic stop revealed 12 fraudulent identification cards in her vehicle, according to authorities. The incident occurred on July 29 when deputies pulled over a vehicle for non-functioning taillights and tag lights.
During the stop, the driver, identified as Bryce Swanson, 28, initially provided deputies with a false name, "Brianna Valenzuela," and claimed to have a driver's license that she did not have with her, the sheriff's office reported. Swanson later told deputies she had never possessed a valid driver's license.
A search of Swanson's vehicle uncovered 12 driver's licenses, all bearing her photograph but with different names and dates of birth. Authorities stated that Swanson is a Canadian citizen who had overstayed her visa.
Body camera footage from the stop shows a deputy questioning Swanson, who stated she was visiting Florida from New York. When questioned about not having any New York identification, Swanson replied, "I've never had a driver's license or anything like that." The deputy noted that her story did not seem consistent.
Deputies then discovered the numerous fraudulent identification cards in the vehicle, with one deputy heard in the video stating, "All these are fake," before Swanson was placed under arrest.
Swanson was booked into the Orient Road Jail and charged with driving without a valid driver's license and providing a false name to a law enforcement officer. She is being held without bond due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer, according to jail records.
