An orange haze has spread across Ontario and into northern U.S. states as smoke from hundreds of wildfires burning in Canada drifts south. The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre reports that 838 wildfires are currently active across the country.
Officials have indicated that the smoke this year is not expected to be as severe as the conditions experienced in 2023, when smoke from Quebec wildfires significantly impacted air quality along the U.S. East Coast.
