Canadian Real Estate Tycoon Speaks Out After 'Horrific' Home Invasion
David Morton and his family were attacked by masked intruders in their Toronto mansion.
Real estate tycoon David Morton, 75, has spoken out about the "horrific" ordeal he and his family endured when masked robbers broke into their Toronto mansion and attacked them with guns and a hammer. Morton, his wife Doriana Zohil-Morton, and their daughters Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton were injured in the incident, which occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Thursday.
David Morton and his daughters sustained gunshot wounds, while his wife was struck with a hammer. The family fought back against the intruders inside their home in the Bridle Path neighborhood. Police responded to reports of a shooting at the residence.
"It is difficult to put into words the trauma of experiencing something so horrific in the one place where everyone should feel safest: their own home," Morton said in a statement. "No family should ever have to experience this. People should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives."
