A Canadian real estate CEO, his two daughters, and his wife were attacked by three masked intruders during an early morning home invasion at their multi-million dollar residence in Toronto. David Morton, CEO of the MAC Group, and his daughters were shot, while his wife was struck with a hammer.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the family's gated home in the affluent Bridle Path neighborhood. According to Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith, the suspects, armed with handguns and a hammer, gained entry through a back door.

During a confrontation inside the residence, a struggle ensued, leading the suspects to fire their weapons multiple times. Morton, 75, and one of his daughters sustained gunshot wounds to the leg. The other daughter was shot under her arm. Morton's wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, who is also president of the MAC Group, was assaulted with a hammer by one of the intruders.

Two family members suffered what were described as "life-altering injuries" and remained hospitalized, while the other two sustained non-life-threatening wounds. The family members were not publicly identified by their specific injuries.

Investigators have not yet released descriptions of the suspects, who fled the scene in an SUV. It remains uncertain whether anything was stolen from the residence, though police believe the motivation was robbery due to the affluent nature of the neighborhood.

"An affluent area where people would have things that are sought after would be the motivation for this," Smith stated.

The home, listed online with 5+1 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, is valued at approximately $2.1 million and features amenities such as a tennis court, swimming pool, and private gardens.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the violent home invasion and urged the community to come forward with any information. She also announced an increase in police presence in the neighborhood.

"I am deeply troubled by the violent home invasion early this morning in the Bridle Path neighborhood. My thoughts are with the family and their loved ones, who are going through something no family should ever have to face. I am praying for their full recovery," Chow wrote on X.

The MAC Group is a Toronto-based family-owned company with divisions specializing in real estate, hospitality, and corporate housing. David Morton has three decades of experience in real estate and hospitality. Their daughter Cristina is listed as the founder of Zohil-Morton law, specializing in Canadian Immigration Law, and another daughter, Maggie Zohil-Morton, is employed by the MAC Group in various departments.
