The effectiveness of "For Your Consideration" (FYC) events and strategic campaign efforts in securing Emmy nominations is being highlighted by industry insiders, who suggest that a poorly executed campaign can doom even a promising show. One awards professional told Page Six that they "knew ‘Half Man’ was f–ked" after witnessing an "odd" FYC panel for the HBO series.

FYC events have become increasingly vital for a show's awards prospects. "There are people who had good shows and didn’t campaign well, relying on celeb moderators, and it backfired," the insider explained. "I think people really underestimate those panels." The skill involved in these events can make or break a show's chances, with "smart places" knowing how to leverage them to gain nominations.

HBO's "Half Man," starring creator Richard Gadd, Jamie Bell, Stuart Campbell, and Mitchell Robertson, was notably shut out of most nominations, with the exception of a best supporting nod for Gadd for "Baby Reindeer." The show had been anticipated as a contender for prestige awards.

In contrast, "The Pitt" received a substantial 25 nominations, a figure that excited another source. The publication noted that when multiple actors from the same show are nominated in a category, it can create interesting dynamics for voters. "When categories have multiple people from the same show, it really shakes things up, because yes, voters could pull towards one person or they could split the vote and lead the way for a third candidate to come through and win," the source commented.

Among "The Pitt's" nominees were guest actors Brittany Allen and Jeff Kober, who secured nominations for their performances without direct campaign support from HBO. Allen played a cancer patient, and Kober portrayed another character with a serious diagnosis. This approach mirrors past instances where actors have successfully campaigned independently, such as Alfie Allen, Gwendoline Christie, and Carice van Houten, who all self-submitted and earned nominations for the final season of "Game of Thrones" in 2019.
