A small Northern California town is on lockdown as deputies search for an armed and dangerous man who rammed a patrol vehicle and fired on law enforcement officers before fleeing into the woods.
Placer County Sheriff's deputies are seeking Derek Spencer, 44, in connection with a series of violent incidents in Iowa Hill. Spencer is wanted on multiple felony charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at individuals on Sunday.
Deputies encountered Spencer around 10:30 a.m. Monday. He reportedly rammed a patrol vehicle and fled the scene. During the pursuit, Spencer allegedly fired shots at law enforcement officers and a sheriff's helicopter, prompting officials to issue an emergency alert advising all Iowa Hill residents to shelter in place.
Spencer is described as a bald man with a goatee, last seen wearing a black T-shirt. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous.
