A California teenager is back in custody for an alleged jewelry store theft, less than 24 hours after his release from jail while on pretrial probation for burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft charges. Authorities arrested Andre Wiley, 19, last week after detectives said he and two other individuals targeted a local jewelry store.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Wiley, along with 18-year-olds Andrew Ivy and Kameryus Mayhand, entered a jewelry store. Investigators allege that Ivy and Mayhand distracted store employees while Wiley stole two pieces of jewelry before the group fled. Surveillance video captured the incident, showing the suspects entering the store, browsing, and then quickly exiting.
The Rancho Cordova Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit located the suspects' vehicle shortly after the alleged theft, leading to their arrests and the recovery of the stolen items.
Deputies discovered that Wiley had been released from the Placer County Jail less than a day prior and was already on pretrial probation for the same offenses he is now accused of repeating. Wiley, Ivy, and Mayhand were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office released the booking photos of the suspects, as detectives believe they may be connected to additional thefts. The office is asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or believes they may have been victimized to contact them at 916-874-5115.
