California Tech CEO Arrested for Alleged $300 Million AI Chip Smuggling to China

Federal agents arrested a California tech CEO on October 1, accusing him of orchestrating the smuggling of more than $300 million in restricted artificial intelligence chips to China.

Greg Lui, 38, also known as “Yiu Kong Lui,” of San Gabriel, faces multiple federal charges. Prosecutors allege that Lui was involved in selling a significant quantity of American-made AI graphics processors to Beijing, in direct violation of U.S. export laws. The potential national security implications of such a transfer are a primary concern for federal authorities.
