A special education teacher in California's Madera Unified School District is under police investigation and has been banned from her school after posting a series of videos on social media that expressed a desire to form a "black militia" and commit robberies.
Kenisha Daily, a special education teacher at Lincoln Elementary, posted the videos over the weekend. In one video, she stated, "Starting today, I’m starting a black militia. So if you’re black, if you want to shoot some guns, come find me." She also stated, "We’re going to rob some white people."
In the videos, Daily displayed loaded weapons, including a shotgun and a pistol. The posts were reported to the Madera Unified School District by concerned individuals on Saturday night.
District officials contacted Fresno authorities, leading to a home visit and the issuance of a temporary restraining order against Daily. Law enforcement is now investigating the incident, according to a statement from the school district. The district and Madera police conducted a safety review at Lincoln Elementary and enhanced security measures.
Madera Unified School District stated that the Board of Trustees believes "students, families, and staff all deserve a safe and welcoming school environment" and that "no staff member has the right to compromise others’ sense of safety."
Daily has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. School and local agencies are collaborating on longer-term safety strategies in response to the incident.
