California Sting Operation Nets 21 Suspects for Prostitution Solicitation

A prostitution sting operation conducted by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Operations Unit resulted in the arrest of 21 men suspected of soliciting sex. The two-day operation, which focused on contacting individuals seeking to purchase sex, also led to drug possession charges for four individuals.

During the sting, undercover agents engaged with individuals identified as "johns." Authorities reported that one of the arrested men was found to be in possession of a concealed, loaded firearm without a permit, leading to additional charges.

Video footage released from the operation shows law enforcement officers pursuing and apprehending suspects. The sheriff's office stated that human trafficking is a complex issue and that their approach involves multiple angles, including supporting survivors, investigating traffickers, and addressing contributing factors to exploitation.

Representatives from Stand Up Placer, a nonprofit organization assisting survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking, participated in the operation. They engaged with the cited individuals to educate them on the impact of their actions and the link between the purchase of sex and human trafficking.

Authorities noted that much of the sex trafficking observed in Placer County involves solicitation through online platforms and dating applications. Stand Up Placer provides resources, including a confidential webchat, for survivors and victims of human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
