A registered sex offender with a yearslong history of public "butt-sniffing" incidents has been arrested again in Southern California. Calese Crowder, 39, was apprehended on Friday after Glendale police responded to reports of a suspicious man inside a business. Officers found Crowder "hunkered down" in the aisles and appearing to be "sniffing someone out."

While officers were responding to the initial call, another report came in from a different business on Brand Boulevard and Broadway with a similar description of a suspicious individual. Surveillance footage from both locations allowed police to identify Crowder. He was located shortly thereafter and arrested for allegedly violating his parole.

This latest incident is part of a disturbing pattern of behavior for Crowder, who has a criminal history dating back to at least 2021. He was arrested in August 2025 following an alleged sniffing incident inside a Burbank store, and approximately a month prior, he was arrested for similar behavior at a shopping complex in the same city.

In a 2025 incident at a Nordstrom Rack, surveillance footage showed Crowder following a female shopper before crouching behind her and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks. He was apprehended at a nearby Walmart following that incident.

Crowder was already on parole for a series of similar offenses in Burbank and Glendale. In September 2025, he was sentenced to 135 days in Los Angeles County Jail after admitting to violating his parole, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He is currently being held pending a hearing.
