California School District Responds to Teen Shooting Plot
Corona-Norco Unified School District announces new security measures after two students were arrested for allegedly planning an attack.
The Corona-Norco Unified School District has implemented new security measures following the arrest of two teenage girls accused of plotting a school shooting. The district confirmed that one suspect is enrolled at Corona High School and the other, a former student, is enrolled at Norco High School.
Law enforcement officials announced on October 21 that the FBI detected social media communications detailing the alleged plot. Local police subsequently arrested the two girls, who were reportedly attempting to acquire firearms for the planned attack. The district stated that neither student had been on campus since the investigation began on October 6.
In a statement, the district expressed gratitude for the prompt action taken by the Corona Police Department and highlighted their ongoing collaboration in the investigation. "We understand that hearing news like this can be unsettling for families, and we want our parents to know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority," the statement read. "CNUSD has established safety protocols, monitoring systems, and strong partnerships with local law enforcement to help identify and respond to potential threats."
The district emphasized its commitment to maintaining safe and supportive learning environments. "These measures are part of our ongoing commitment to providing safe and supportive learning environments for every student."
