California Rabbi Charged With Murder in Costco Parking Lot Death

A California rabbi and educator has been charged with murder for allegedly driving his car directly at a worker painting lines in a Costco parking lot, intentionally striking and killing him, according to prosecutors.

Abba Avrohom Bryski, 35, of Agoura Hills, faces a murder charge in the Oct. 20 death of 28-year-old Nicholas Lang outside a Costco in Camarillo, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office announced. Court records list Bryski's occupation as an "Educator/Rabbi."

Lang was painting stripes in the Costco parking lot around 8:30 p.m. when Bryski allegedly drove his Infiniti Q60 coupe at him and intentionally struck him, prosecutors said. Authorities have not yet disclosed what allegedly prompted the incident or whether Bryski and Lang knew each other.

Deputies responded to the scene near the Costco gas pumps after reports of a man being struck by a vehicle. Witnesses directed deputies to the driver, who was detained and identified as Bryski. He was found to be sitting in his vehicle nearby when authorities arrived.

Lang, who was from Modesto, was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. In a statement, Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko called it a "devastating and senseless loss of life" and pledged to hold the defendant accountable.

Bryski was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of murder. Prosecutors have charged him with murder, alleging he personally used a deadly weapon, and he also faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer. He remains in custody without bail and is scheduled for his arraignment on November 18.

The investigation is ongoing. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, and Chabad of the Conejo for further information.
