California Pizzerias Dominate National Rankings, Los Angeles Snubbed

Eight pizzerias in California have been recognized on DoorDash's 2026 'Top Pizza Spots' list, celebrating National Pizza Month. However, a notable absence from the rankings is Los Angeles, with all of the Golden State's honorees concentrated in the Bay Area and its surrounding regions.

The list, released on October 13, was compiled using customer ratings from DoorDash over a 12-month period, from September 2025 to September 2026. To be included, restaurants needed a minimum of 1,000 customer reviews, fewer than 10 locations, and consistently high average ratings on the platform.

San Francisco contributed three establishments to the list: Golden Boy Pizza, known for its square slices and clam pie; Little Star Pizza, recognized for its deep-dish offerings; and Outta Sight, which serves New York-style pizzas. Zachary's Chicago Pizza in Oakland, famous for its stuffed pies, also earned a spot.

Silicon Valley was represented by A Slice of New York Pizza in San Jose, Campbell's Blue Line Pizza, and Luigi's Pizza & Pasta. The sole winner outside the immediate Bay Area was Mike's Pizza of Sonora, situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills.

While Los Angeles has recently seen a surge in acclaimed pizza establishments, its pizzerias did not meet the criteria for this specific DoorDash ranking. Ruth Isenstadt, Head of U.S. Restaurants at DoorDash, commented that the list aims to "celebrate the restaurants that earn that loyalty order after order, and the people behind them who keep finding ways to make a familiar favorite their own."

This ranking follows a separate list by Food & Wine, which did recognize three Los Angeles pizzerias – Pijja Palace in Silver Lake, Pizzeria Sei in Palms, and Quarter Sheets in Echo Park – among the 27 best pizzas in the country.
