A registered nurse in California is under scrutiny for social media posts that appeared to express a wish for the deaths of President Donald Trump and the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
The posts, shared on Instagram by user Robert Acuna-Bagshaw, who works at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Memorial Children's Hospital, reportedly showed a collage of Trump, Graham, and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. One post featured a tombstone graphic over Graham's image with "R.I.P." text, and another showed a countdown under Trump's photo. Acuna-Bagshaw's name and an Instagram handle seemingly linked to him were visible in the posts.
One of the shared stories read, "If all 3 of these f---ers die this week, I might become religious again." These posts circulated online shortly before Sen. Graham's death on Saturday at age 71. Preliminary findings from the D.C. medical examiner suggest his death was due to an aortic tear from cardiovascular disease.
Following Graham's passing, Acuna-Bagshaw reportedly posted additional Instagram stories addressing the backlash he received. He stated that individuals were sending him threats, attempting to get him fired, and looking up his address. He also claimed that his online activity was being tracked and suggested that those who threatened him could face repercussions.
Acuna-Bagshaw further commented on the nature of the attacks, stating, "What's funny is they attack me for being a nurse & assume I'm as racist and bigoted as they are." He added, "They're exactly what's wrong with this world. Attacking and insinuating about people they know nothing about."
Fox News Digital reached out to Long Beach Medical Center, Acuna-Bagshaw, and the White House for comment but did not immediately receive responses. Sen. McConnell's office also did not immediately comment. McConnell had recently spoken out about his hospitalization for recovery from a fall, stating he did not suffer a broken bone, concussion, heart attack, or stroke.
