A California man has pleaded guilty to felonies after sending a fake ransom note to the family of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie. Derrick Callella, 42, entered his guilty plea on Thursday.

Callella admitted to two felony charges stemming from his involvement in sending one of the numerous false ransom notes that claimed to be holding the 84-year-old missing woman. Police have stated that they still have few clues regarding Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts or the identities of her potential kidnappers, despite receiving several such notes from individuals attempting to extort the family.

His sentencing is scheduled for September 10. Reports indicate he is expected to receive 10 years of probation.
