A violent encounter in Foothill Farms, California, concluded with police fatally shooting a man who had randomly attacked a mother and her daughter in their garage. The incident occurred on July 15 when Faryeshyi Allahdin, 23, entered the family's garage and attacked the two women, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
Bodycam footage released by the SCSO captured the sounds of distress as officers confronted Allahdin, ordering him to drop his weapon before firing multiple shots. Sergeant Edward Igoe, an SCSO spokesperson, stated that there was no prior relationship between the attacker and the victims, describing the act as one where the suspect "just saw an open garage, saw a victim and immediately started attacking."
The two victims, a 63-year-old mother and her 26-year-old daughter, sustained multiple stab wounds and cuts. They were transported to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. Allahdin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Timeline of Events
The incident began earlier that morning, around 6:30 a.m., when Starbucks employees reported a disturbance. A man armed with a kitchen knife had entered the store, forcing employees to retreat to a back room. A 911 call from an employee described the man as appearing to be homeless and carrying a knife, noting that he seemed to have an injury to his stomach.
Home security footage showed the suspect running through a neighborhood and appearing to stab himself in the stomach before encountering the mother and daughter. A deputy, alerted by the initial disturbance and description, spotted a man matching the suspect's appearance. As officers approached, the man ran into the open garage.
The Attack and Police Response
Inside the garage, Allahdin allegedly attacked the 63-year-old woman from behind as she was getting into her car. Her daughter, who was also in the garage, intervened in a "heroic act" to save her mother. However, the suspect then turned his attention to the daughter, attacking her as well.
Dashcam footage from a deputy arriving at the scene captured the ongoing assault. The deputy engaged the suspect, firing his handgun as Allahdin continued to attack the daughter. Multiple shots were fired. The suspect was pronounced dead by fire personnel shortly after. No deputies were injured.
Community Impact and Investigation
Neighbors expressed shock and concern following the incident. "There's times when we leave our garage doors open, so to think that it could have been us or any other of our neighbors around us is sad to hear," one resident told CBS News Sacramento. Another admitted, "I kind of feel unsafe."
Sgt. Igoe commented that such random attacks are uncommon and that the investigation will explore potential contributing factors, including the suspect's possible homelessness, drug use, or mental health issues. The SCSO Homicide Bureau and Professional Standards Division are investigating the incident, with an independent review by the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office also to be conducted.
