A Northern California man was seriously injured after he ran toward a gunman during a mass shooting at an Idaho In-N-Out Burger, according to his family. Austin James, a graduate of Antelope High School and a former Twin Falls police officer, was waiting in the restaurant's drive-thru with his wife when the shooting began.

Instead of fleeing, James attempted to stop the attacker and was struck in the arm, sustaining serious injuries. His wife, an emergency room nurse, provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to a local hospital.

The incident left three people dead and seven others wounded, including James. Authorities identified the gunman as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe Williams acted alone and have not yet released a motive.

Among the fatalities was Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out manager from Stockton, California, who was in Twin Falls to help train staff at the newly opened location. Her family confirmed her identity.

As of Sunday afternoon, two victims remained in critical condition, while three others were in stable condition. Two additional victims had been treated and released from the hospital.
