California High School Football Game Ends Early Due to On-Field Brawl
A fight between Compton High School and Narbonne High School players led to the game's premature conclusion.
A high school football game in California between Compton High School and Narbonne High School was called off in the fourth quarter Friday night due to a brawl between the teams. Videos circulating on social media show players from both squads engaged in a fight on the field.
Referees made the decision to end the game rather than allow it to conclude the final minutes. At the time of the stoppage, Compton held a commanding 34-6 lead over Narbonne.
The incident casts a shadow over Narbonne High School's football program, which is already facing scrutiny. The team was previously banned from postseason competition for three seasons and forfeited its 2024 City Open Division championship due to eligibility violations. An investigation by the Los Angeles Unified School District and the CIF LA City Section found that Narbonne's program had violated CIF bylaws related to residency requirements and improper contact with potential student-athletes.
It remains to be seen if further consequences will be imposed on either team as a result of the brawl.
