A 7-year-old girl identified as Patricia Edmiston was hospitalized in critical condition following a vicious attack by a pack of six stray dogs in Corning, California, on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred near Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue, close to the girl's residence.

According to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, the dogs inflicted severe injuries to Patricia's scalp and legs. She was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to the UC Davis Medical Center for advanced treatment. Her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, stated that the dogs ripped off Patricia's scalp and that she was "fighting for her life" with numerous wounds.

Patricia underwent surgery at UC Davis and, as of Tuesday, was seen smiling in photos from her hospital bed, though her head and hand were bandaged. The Hello Kitty plushy was beside her as she recovered. Her family has been by her side, with her father and brothers reportedly sleeping in their car in Sacramento to remain close during her treatment. A GoFundMe page was established to assist the family with necessities like gas and food, raising over $4,100 before donations were paused.

The six dogs involved in the attack were seized by authorities and taken to the Tehama County Animal Shelter. The investigation into the attack, including the breeds of the dogs and the circumstances leading up to the encounter, is ongoing. No arrests or charges have been announced.

The Corning Union Elementary School District confirmed Patricia's attack and treatment at UC Davis. Her grandmother described Patricia's resilience as inspiring and expressed gratitude for the community's support and donations. Patricia was scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
