California Food Company Recalls Peperoncinis After Viral TikTok Shows Alleged Mouse in Jar

Mezzetta, a California-based food company, has initiated a voluntary recall of its Golden Creek Peperoncini (Medium Heat) after a TikTok user posted viral videos allegedly showing a dead mouse in a 32-ounce jar. The company announced the recall following the emergence of the videos, which prompted swift action to investigate the consumer's report.

The FDA confirmed the recall in a statement, noting that Mezzetta has requested to examine the product in question and is reviewing its production and sanitation records. The company has also worked with affected customers to remove the product from sale.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled product. The recall affects the 32-ounce jars of Mezzetta Golden Creek Peperoncini (Medium Heat). Customers who have purchased this product are advised to contact Mezzetta for further instructions.

This incident is one of several recent recalls affecting food products. Earlier in the month, Sierra Nevada Graziers recalled four types of raw milk cheese due to E. coli cases in nine states. Additionally, in December 2025, nearly 2,000 products, including snacks and beverages, were recalled after the FDA found rodent and bird contamination at a distribution facility.
