A California man faces murder charges for allegedly fatally stabbing his wife's lover after discovering him in bed with his wife and their two young children. Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, is accused of killing Nicholas Garcia, 28, with a pocketknife on October 24 in the bedroom of their Anaheim home. Prosecutors stated that the couple's 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son were in the bed at the time of the incident.
Pinedalopez was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one felony count of murder, along with a felony enhancement for personal weapon use. He appeared in court on Tuesday and could face up to 26 years to life in prison if convicted. The Orange County District Attorney's Office reported that Garcia died at the scene from his injuries. Pinedalopez's wife and children were unharmed.
"Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home," District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.
This case echoes a previous incident in January, where a Glendale firefighter, Andrew Jimenez, was accused of killing his wife, Mayra Lopez Jimenez, with an ax in their North Hollywood home. Investigators believe Jimenez suspected his wife of infidelity, and his attorney claimed a diary found at the scene indicated she had been unfaithful. Jimenez faces charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, potentially resulting in a 26-year-to-life sentence if convicted.
