California County Approves 25-Acre Surf Resort with Wave Pool, Hotel

Plans for a 25-acre surf resort, including a large surf lagoon and wave pool, have received approval from Placer County planners. The Alchemy Surf Resort, proposed by Inland Surf Company, is planned for the west Placer County area and aims to become an action-sports and hospitality destination.

The resort's centerpiece will be a 5-acre surf lagoon, complemented by a standing wave pool, beaches, and various activity areas. The development is also set to include a 100-room hotel, bungalows, and a 28,390-square-foot surf center. For dry-land activities, the plans incorporate an outdoor skate plaza, a children’s playground, spas, cold plunges, and an action-sports hub featuring trampolines, climbing walls, and indoor skating facilities.

Food, beverages, and shopping will be available at several "side shore" hubs, which will also offer gathering and member spaces. Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule stated that the resort represents a significant addition to the Placer One area, providing a new recreational and hospitality use. He noted that the approved plans offer a framework for the applicant to establish a unique recreational destination.

The Alchemy Surf Resort will be part of the larger Placer One project, which includes plans for residential areas, schools, parks, businesses, and open spaces, as well as the future Sacramento State Placer Center and a county forensics lab.

The project has addressed concerns regarding water usage, with the Placer County Water Agency confirming it has the necessary capacity and infrastructure to meet the resort's anticipated needs. Inland Surf Company is targeting Spring 2027 for the groundbreaking of the resort.

Local businesses anticipate a positive economic impact from the development. Gauravdeep Chima, owner of Farms’ Pizza, expressed optimism that the resort would attract tourists and customers to the area.
