California Congressional Candidate Faces Scrutiny Over Activist Endorsement

Eric Jones, the Democratic candidate for California's 4th Congressional District, has received an endorsement from activist Adina Flores, whose online content includes antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+ remarks. Flores, who describes herself as a "civil rights" advocate, has posted statements on social media suggesting that Jewish people control parts of California and the world.

In a Facebook video, Flores stated, "The Jews still run the world. That's where we're at... All our money gets sent to Israel, but nobody wants to talk about that." An Instagram post from August further claimed that "evil Jews run the world through Masonic Lodges." She has also criticized LGBTQ+ ideology in schools, referring to a Pride logo as resembling a penis and suggesting that children in public schools might "be gay and retarded."

Jones' campaign has issued a statement condemning prejudice. "I firmly condemn any and all hate toward our Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities. It has no place in our district," a campaign spokesperson said. "My wife is Jewish, we are raising our kids in a Jewish household, I’m a fierce advocate for our public schools and educators, and I have zero tolerance for hateful commentary toward my neighbors or my family."

Flores, who has a significant following on social media, has also voiced criticism of both major political parties, describing them as "two sides of the same bird." She indicated that the "Freemasons" are the "real puppet master" controlling the narrative of both Republicans and Democrats.

According to social media posts, Jones has met with Flores multiple times. Flores, who stated she was a former government employee and whistleblower forced out over COVID-19 mandates, endorsed Jones based on his commitment to combating women's sexual exploitation.

Jones' campaign platform centers on issues such as affordability, government transparency, and the sustainability of government programs. His stated priorities include ending corruption, lowering the cost of living, and ensuring resource sustainability in government. His campaign has garnered endorsements from progressive groups like Indivisible and Our Revolution.

Flores, in her endorsement post, expressed appreciation for Jones' focus on the issue of sexual misconduct, noting that it is a critical matter he is addressing even before taking office. Following inquiries about her remarks, Flores posted a video response on Instagram, asserting her status as a "private citizen" whose views are her own and that her social media accounts are not monetized. She stated, "I am highly against the two-party system. If I feel someone is a good fit for office, I support them."
