A 43-year-old student at Cal Poly Humboldt, who previously served 14 years in state prison, was arrested twice during his first week living in a university dormitory. Delos Anthony Charles Moore was initially detained on August 31 on suspicion of sexual assault.

Moore was subsequently arrested a second time after allegedly returning to campus and violating a court order that prohibited him from being there. He was released on a $35,000 bond.

Before enrolling at Cal Poly Humboldt to study forestry, Moore had spent time in prison for a 2007 robbery in Gardena, California. He told a podcast in 2024 that he and two others robbed a store, during which the owner was assaulted. Moore received an additional 10-year sentence for gang-related enhancements on his initial two-year sentence. He also received a five-year sentence for possessing narcotics smuggled into prison during a visit.

While incarcerated, Moore earned an associate degree in sociology from Lake Tahoe Community College. He was released in 2021 after receiving credits for good behavior. Following his release, Moore worked in the entertainment industry as a production assistant and received support from an organization that assists formerly incarcerated individuals in finding employment. He was recently awarded a scholarship to attend Cal Poly Humboldt, which came less than three months before his arrest.
