A head football coach at Tracy High School in San Joaquin County, California, was arrested on Sept. 11 after students found his cellphone allegedly recording them in an on-campus locker room. The device was reportedly still recording when student athletes discovered it on Sept. 10.

Students immediately stopped the recording, deleted the video content, and handed the cellphone over to a teacher. A preliminary investigation by the school's resource officers and detectives determined the phone belonged to Jeffrey Pribble, the 48-year-old head football coach and physical education teacher.

Following an alert from a parent of one of the students involved, the Tracy Police Department responded to the school and arrested Pribble. The Tracy Unified School District has placed Pribble on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Tracy Police Chief Sekou Millington stated in a social media post that "Our children deserve to feel safe at school and in every space where they should be able to learn, grow, and simply be kids." He added, "Protecting the safety, privacy, and well-being of our students is a responsibility we take seriously. We are grateful to the students who brought this incident to the attention of adults and to the officers and detectives who acted quickly to investigate."
