Fiesta Village Family Fun Park in Colton, California, will close its doors permanently after more than 50 years of operation. The park's final public operating days are scheduled for July 10 and 11.
Owners Michelle and Patrick O'Brien, who have operated the family-owned attraction since 2002, announced the decision, citing a combination of rising operating costs and declining attendance as unsustainable factors. The park first opened in 1974.
"The economics of the amusement park industry and what we're doing have changed dramatically," Michelle O'Brien told SFGATE. "We've just reached a point where continuing simply wasn't sustainable."
Over the decades, Fiesta Village expanded from its original offerings of mini-golf, go-karts, and water slides to include amusement rides, laser tag, and a roller skating rink. Despite efforts to find a buyer to continue operations, the owners stated there was "just no interest."
The announcement has led to an outpouring of shared memories from former visitors on social media. Many recalled the park as a venue for family traditions, childhood outings, and first dates.
In a farewell message, the park invited the community to visit one last time to "celebrate Fiesta Village one last time, to laugh, play and create one final memory together." The owners expressed gratitude to generations of guests, stating, "Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and your family traditions. We will always cherish the role Fiesta Village has played in bringing people together."
