Caitlin Clark Leads Fever to Victory, Forces Game 3 Against Aces

Caitlin Clark recorded a historic performance with 27 points and 15 assists Tuesday night, leading the Indiana Fever to a crucial 99-89 win over the Las Vegas Aces and forcing a decisive Game 3 in their WNBA playoff series. Kelsey Mitchell contributed 26 points for the sixth-seeded Fever.
Clark made history by becoming the first player in league history to achieve a points-assists double-double in the first half of a playoff game, tallying 14 points and 11 assists by halftime. The Fever evened the best-of-three series at 1-1, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday in Las Vegas.
The game was interrupted by an incident involving Aces player A'ja Wilson and a fan. Following a foul call on Sophie Cunningham, Wilson approached a fan who appeared to have said something to her. Security intervened, and Wilson was assessed a technical foul but not ejected. The fan was escorted out by security with Indiana leading by 11 points late in the fourth quarter.
Despite Clark fouling out later in the game, the Fever managed to maintain their lead and secure the victory. Her all-around performance extended beyond scoring; she showcased impressive ball-handling, delivered numerous assists, applied defensive pressure, and energized the crowd.
This win marked a significant turnaround from Game 1, where the Aces dominated. In this matchup, the Aces' Jackie Young scored 31 points and A'ja Wilson added 22 points and nine rebounds, passing Rebekkah Brunson for fourth on the league's all-time playoff scoring list.
Las Vegas had appeared poised for another win, closing the first quarter on a 9-2 run and extending their lead to 29-18 early in the second. However, Clark's energetic play, including a tie-up for a jump ball and a subsequent baseline corner shot that she celebrated with the crowd, ignited a 20-6 run for Indiana. The Fever took a 48-43 lead into halftime and extended it to 69-54 late in the third quarter.
With Clark on the bench due to four fouls, the Aces mounted a comeback, opening the fourth quarter with an 11-4 run to narrow the deficit to 76-71. Nevertheless, Indiana held on to force a winner-take-all Game 3.
