Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever's star guard, has unveiled a new colorway for her first signature basketball shoe, the Nike Caitlin 1. The debut occurred shortly after Clark achieved a franchise record of 45 points in a game against the Seattle Storm, also marking a WNBA first with a 40-plus-point, 10-assist performance.
The release of the Nike Caitlin 1 signifies a major milestone for Clark, placing her among a select group of athletes to receive a signature sneaker from Nike. The shoe is scheduled for a retail release on October 1, 2026, with adult sizes priced at $140 and youth sizes at $115.
Prior to the launch of her signature line, Clark primarily wore player-exclusive Kobe Bryant sneakers during her initial WNBA seasons. The endorsement deal with Nike following the 2024 WNBA Draft is reportedly an eight-year, $28 million agreement.
Details on the shoe's outsole include the phrases "Shoot More Threes," "From Anywhere," and "It was never a long shot." The first colorway released, featuring a royal blue upper with white and neon volt accents, has been described as having grown on observers since its initial unveiling. Another versatile colorway, with a white upper and a clear blue bottom, is anticipated to be popular both on and off the court.
Clark is set to play against the New York Liberty on Saturday.
Separately, former swimmer Riley Gaines commented on the public discourse surrounding Clark. Gaines suggested that the on-court attention Clark receives is driven by her talent, rather than her race or sexuality, and posited that jealousy may be a factor in the treatment Clark has faced. Gaines also raised questions about perceived double standards in how athletes are treated.
