The Cadillac Formula 1 team is celebrating the United States' 250th anniversary of independence with a special stars-and-stripes livery at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The timing of the race, falling on Independence Day weekend, with qualifying and the Sprint race scheduled for July 4th, adds a layer of playful provocation to the American team's patriotic display.

This marks the team's second special livery of the season, following a black-and-white stars-and-stripes design used for the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year, which was the team's first race on home soil. The new livery features a prominent display of red, white, and blue, creating a vibrant splash on the grid.

While the livery is a festive nod to American heritage, the team has faced significant growing pains in its inaugural Formula 1 season. Starting an F1 team from scratch, even with substantial backing, is a considerable challenge. Both Cadillac cars retired from the previous Grand Prix due to reliability issues, following a pattern of performance inconsistencies throughout the season. The team currently sits in seventh place in the constructors' standings, with Haas being the only other American team on the grid.

Despite these challenges, the decision to run a distinctly American livery at Silverstone, a historic circuit in Great Britain, is seen by some as a humorous and bold statement. Whether intentional or not, the visual celebration of American independence on British soil during a key F1 event is generating attention.
