C.W. Morgan, Actor Known for Role in "Scream," Dies at 72
The actor's daughter confirmed his passing in an emotional tribute.
C.W. Morgan, who played the father of the Ghostface killer in the 1996 horror film "Scream," has died at the age of 72. His daughter, Renata Macfie, confirmed his death on August 31 in a heartfelt Facebook post.
"I’m never going to have the right words for this post. Loosing you has left the biggest hole in my heart," Macfie wrote alongside a throwback photograph of herself and her father. "I miss you endlessly already. I will carry on our Mulholland drives and our Starbucks outings. I’m grateful and lucky to have had you as my daddy. My Guck. Rest easy bubby."
Macfie concluded her tribute by saying, "Life will never be the same without you and your poorly timed jokes that I inherited from you. Love you endlessly (no more fighting about that anymore I win)."
According to Los Angeles Medical Examiner records obtained by the Daily Mail, Morgan, born Curtis Wade Morgan, died on August 30 in Los Angeles County. The LAPD told TMZ that officers responded to a call for a death investigation, and the death appears to have been from natural causes.
Morgan's most notable role was as Hank Loomis, the father of Billy Loomis and an ex-husband of Scream villain Nancy Loomis, portrayed by Laurie Metcalf. In the film, Hank's affair with Sidney Prescott's mother, Maureen Prescott, contributes to Billy's descent into a murderous rage as the original Ghostface killer. Morgan reprised his role in a flashback scene in the 2000 film "Scream 3."
His final acting credit was in a 2000 episode of "Nash Bridges."
