C.J. Gardner-Johnson Ejected for Spitting; Accused of Similar Incident Last Year

Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected from his team’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday after spitting on Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.

Following the incident, San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk claimed on social media that Gardner-Johnson had also spat on him during a game last year. Juszczyk, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, posted on X, “This is the least surprising thing ever. @CGJXXIII spit on me last year when we beat Chicago.” The post gained significant attention, accumulating over 1.7 million views on X in less than a day.

After the game, Gardner-Johnson issued an apology via his Instagram story, stating, “I want to take a moment to address my actions and sincerely apologize to my opponent, my teammates, my organization, and everyone who supports me.” He acknowledged that his actions were “inappropriate, unnecessary, and not a reflection of the respect I have for him or this game.” Gardner-Johnson added that he takes full accountability and must hold himself to a higher standard, regardless of the intensity of competition.

The apology, however, faces scrutiny if Juszczyk's accusation proves true, suggesting a pattern of behavior from Gardner-Johnson.
