Busted Star James Bourne's Brother Chris Provides Health Update After Kidney Donation

Chris Bourne, younger brother of Busted star James Bourne, has shared a health update following his kidney donation to the popstar. Chris, 33, posted on Instagram days after the procedure, sharing a childhood throwback photo with the caption, "When you find out that everything’s going to be ok."

James Bourne, 43, revealed on Monday that his sibling had saved his life after he was told he had "a few years left to live." The musician shared the news on his Spotify account, detailing that he was sidelined from touring due to his serious condition.

"My condition was serious and the doctors told me I had a few years left to live," Bourne stated. "I'm happy to share now that my youngest brother, Chris, who stepped in for me on tour last year, has saved my life yet again. This time quite literally by donating me one of his kidneys."

Bourne added that he is already feeling better and that both he and his brother are recovering well from the surgery. "I can't believe how much better I'm starting to feel already. I'm still going to need some time, but I wanted you to know that we're both recovering from surgery just fine. My brother is a hero," he said. He also shared a selfie on X, writing, "Health update. I’m still alive and kicking and it’s all thanks to my brother."

James Bourne had previously announced in September that he was awaiting "life-extending" surgery and had to withdraw from Busted's tour with McFly. At the time, bandmates Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis informed fans that Bourne was "really f king sick."

Bourne explained his absence from the tour in an Instagram statement, citing health reasons. "There's a lot of information I still don't have about my condition but my bandmates, management and I are unanimous in deciding that I should focus on the medical stuff for now," he wrote. "I really hope I can be in a position to come back further down the line."
