Busted's James Bourne Receives Life-Saving Kidney Transplant From Younger Brother

Busted singer James Bourne, 43, has revealed that his younger brother, Chris, 33, donated a kidney to him, a procedure that has saved his life. Bourne shared the news on Monday, calling his sibling his "hero" and stating that both are recovering well in the hospital.

Bourne, who had previously announced he was awaiting "given a few years to live" due to a serious condition, expressed his gratitude on his Spotify account. "My condition was serious and the doctors told me I had a few years left to live," he wrote. "I'm happy to share now that my youngest brother, Chris, who stepped in for me on tour last year, has saved my life yet again. This time quite literally by donating me one of his kidneys."

He added that he is already feeling better and expects to need more time for a full recovery. Bourne also posted a selfie on X, formerly Twitter, with the caption, "Health update. I’m still alive and kicking and it’s all thanks to my brother."

The musician had withdrawn from Busted's tour with McFly the previous year due to health reasons. At the time, his bandmates Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis described him as being "really f****** sick." Bourne had stated in a message that he was not in good enough health to perform and needed to focus on medical matters, expressing hope to return later.

Busted, formed in Southend-on-Sea, achieved four UK number one singles and won two Brit Awards, selling over five million records globally. In 2013, Busted and McFly temporarily merged to form the supergroup McBusted, though Charlie Simpson did not participate.
