An Israeli-American businessman died Monday evening after falling from the 28th floor of a Miami luxury building, authorities confirmed.
Yakir Levi, 45, was identified by family members as the man who fell from the Acqualina Resort and Residences On The Beach in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they confirmed an adult male had fallen and was deceased. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation, classifying the death as unconfirmed. The manner and cause of death are pending autopsy results from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner.
A woman identified as Levi's sister posted a tribute on social media, writing, "My dear precious brother. I entrust his soul to the Creator. May someone wake me up from this crazy nightmare."
Levi, who served in the Israel Defense Forces before moving to the United States, founded the Los Angeles-based water damage and restoration company 770 Water Damage Restoration. His social media indicated a past career as a musician, including an appearance on an Israeli reality television show. He was married to Meital Gershoni Levi, and the couple had three children.
The Bukharian Community, an online community for Bukharian Jews, also posted a tribute, stating, "The Israeli community is mourning the tragic passing of Yakir Levi, a Los Angeles resident, who died last night at the age of 45."
The night before his death, Levi was tagged in an Instagram post with the caption, "Nights we won’t remember with people we won’t forget."
A representative from the Acqualina resort stated that the building is cooperating with investigators and expressed condolences to Levi's family. "The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members remains our highest priority," the representative said.
