Burglar Sentenced to Four Years for Ransacking Snooker Champion Kyren Wilson's Home

A burglar who targeted the home of former snooker World Champion Kyren Wilson while the player was away at a tournament has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Kane Lee, 28, was found to have stolen approximately £250,000 worth of items, including high-value jewelry, luxury watches, designer handbags, and cash. The court heard that Lee acquired tools and clothing from retail stores and fitted his vehicle with cloned license plates before traveling to Wilson's residence in Barton Seagrave, Northamptonshire. He gained entry by smashing an upstairs window on June 22.

Among the stolen items were an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch, a Cartier Santos watch, a Rolex Datejust watch, and a blue sapphire necklace that Wilson had purchased for his wife. Approximately £2,000 intended for the BeMoreFab children's cancer charity was also taken.

Following the burglary, Wilson posted on social media, describing the event as a "deeply distressing experience" due to the personal memories attached to the items, not solely their monetary value. He withdrew from the Championship League Snooker event in Leicester where he was participating.

Lee was arrested in a joint operation involving Northamptonshire Police and Bedfordshire Police. He admitted to burglary at Northampton Crown Court and was sentenced by Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane, who also ordered him to pay a £228 surcharge. Lee has a prior conviction, having been sentenced to three and a half years for a series of Asian jewelry burglaries in 2018.

Detective Inspector Alan Rooney of Northamptonshire Police commended the inter-force cooperation, stating that the investigation demonstrated the benefits of sharing information and resources to apprehend offenders who cross jurisdictional boundaries. He emphasized the impact burglaries have on victims and the commitment of Operation Crooked to reducing such crimes.

Kyren Wilson, known as 'The Warrior,' is a prominent figure in professional snooker, having turned professional in 2010 and winning multiple titles, including the world championship in 2024. He has recently been granted residency in Hong Kong but maintains a base in England.
