Burger King is reinforcing its decades-old "Have it Your Way" philosophy with a new focus on hospitality, encapsulated by the slogan "You Rule." The company aims to ensure customers feel valued and that their experience is authentic and positive.

"We're certainly encouraging our restaurants to bring that conversation to the forefront," Joel Yashinsky, Burger King's chief marketing officer, told Fox News Digital. "We really want to make that real." This involves working with franchise operators to clearly communicate to guests that they are paramount.

However, Yashinsky stressed that these interactions must feel genuine and cannot be forced. "It has to be authentic," he said. "We can't force it, but we are trying to, obviously, encourage that type of engagement to take place because we are truly trying to live it and mean it."

The "You Rule" slogan was introduced in 2022, followed by the more recent catchphrase, "There's a New King and It's You." Burger King leadership has been engaging with general managers to integrate this philosophy into natural guest interactions.

While the company emphasizes that "the guest does rule," Yashinsky acknowledged limitations, stating that employees cannot fulfill every request. This is partly due to brand-approved policies, such as restrictions on serving certain menu items outside of designated hours. For example, breakfast items like the Croissan'wich may not be available after the standard 10:30 a.m. cutoff, which varies by location.

Burger King's approach to customer service includes employee training through "Burger King University," which is now an online program. The focus is on hospitality, with Yashinsky noting that "an authentic greeting and a welcome and a smile, it goes a long way."

This emphasis on customer experience draws parallels with other fast-food chains, such as Chick-fil-A, known for its employees' signature response, "my pleasure."
