Burberry Closes London Fashion Week with Star-Studded Show
The British heritage brand showcased its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, featuring a mix of trench coats and lighter fabrics, with celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Romeo Beckham in attendance.
Burberry concluded London Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, presenting a polished show attended by a notable front row. The event highlighted the brand's iconic trench coat, with many guests opting for leather iterations, while the collection itself featured lighter fabrics and floral embellishments suitable for warmer weather.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a brand ambassador, wore a black leather trench coat cinched at the waist. She was joined by Romeo Beckham and his girlfriend Kim Turnbull, who sported a cropped beige trench. Actress Fiona Shaw also appeared in a variation of the trench coat. Other attendees embraced different styles; Lila Moss opted for a shimmering lurex mini-dress, and Iris Law wore a denim jacket with jeans.
The popularity of leather was evident among other guests, with Gemma Chan in a black leather boiler suit and Jodie Turner-Smith in a brown leather jacket paired with knee-high leather boots. This choice of attire was notable given the mild 20°C (68°F) temperature.
On the catwalk, the collection presented by Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee offered a transition from the leather focus seen on guests. The Spring/Summer 2027 line opened with a pale pink taffeta trench coat featuring a voluminous silhouette. Subsequent looks incorporated lighter spring-like colors such as daffodil yellow and pale green. Skirts and dresses were adorned with floral prints, and embroidery embellished shirts and pencil skirts. Fabrics like nylon and parachute silk were prominent, signaling a shift away from leather for the season.
Several ensembles, including a nylon windcheater, a bucket hat, and baggy jeans, evoked a festival-ready aesthetic, suggesting the collection could be well-suited for summer events.
The exhibition "The Burberry Trench: Crafting An Icon" at London's V&A Museum coincided with the fashion show, underscoring the enduring significance of the brand's signature garment. Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, the 170-year-old heritage brand showcased its evolution while paying homage to its iconic designs.
