Bull Rider Dies After Being Tossed and Stomped by Animal at Ohio Rodeo
Jason Blake Saylor, 35, sustained a fatal chest injury during an event at Fox Hollow Stables.
An Ohio bull rider died Saturday after being thrown from a bull and stomped by the animal during a rodeo event. Jason Blake Saylor, 35, of Waynesville, suffered a traumatic chest injury at Fox Hollow Stables when the bull stepped on or kicked him.
Officials reported that Saylor was wearing chest protection at the time of the incident. The Fox Hollow Rodeo confirmed the tragedy in a Facebook post, expressing heartbreak and offering condolences to Saylor's family and friends.
Bull riding has been cited as one of the most dangerous sports in the U.S. A 2025 report indicated an injury rate more than ten times higher than that of football. A 2011 study estimated that bull riders are killed approximately once every 25,000 rides.
In a similar incident last year, a bull rider was hospitalized after being bucked off and trampled by a bull during a rodeo event in the Bronx.
