Bud Light Launches 'Celly Jar' Promotion After NFL Fines for Celebrations
The beer brand is offering fans $37,384, an amount equal to the combined fines of three NFL players for drinking-related end-zone celebrations.
Bud Light, the official beer sponsor of the NFL, has introduced a new marketing promotion called the "Celly Jar," offering fans $37,384 to celebrate. This amount mirrors the total fines levied against three NFL players—Kyle Juszczyk, Jake Ferguson, and Matt Goncalves—for their post-touchdown drinking celebrations.
The promotion comes after Juszczyk, a fullback for the San Francisco 49ers, was fined $14,926, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson received a $13,611 fine, and Colts guard Matt Goncalves was charged $8,847. The combined total of these fines is $37,384. The beer company stated in an email, "Why $37,384? Seemed like a fine amount." The brand also indicated that fans could receive $10 off a 12-pack or larger of Bud Light through its social media channels.
All three players have appealed their fines. Juszczyk, in particular, has stated that his celebration is not an attempt to mimic drinking alcohol, as he does not consume it. He explained that his "Juice" celebration is a nod to his nickname and the accompanying crowd chant.
Despite the fines, the incident has generated significant attention. 49ers tight end George Kittle humorously posted a photo of Juszczyk on social media, tagging the NFL and calling the player a "menace." Juszczyk himself has played along, creating a makeshift "NOT BEER" label for a bottle in his locker and producing a TikTok video with his wife, Kristin Juszczyk, featuring them aggressively making homemade juice.
