Buc-ee's Expands Westward, Opening First Arizona Location Near California Border

Buc-ee's, the beloved Texas-based convenience store and gas station chain, has expanded its reach further west with the opening of its first Arizona location in Goodyear. This new travel center, situated just a few hours from the California border, offers residents and travelers a taste of the brand's signature experience.

The massive Goodyear location, which opened in June, spans 74,000 square feet and features 120 fueling pumps, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is located at Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, approximately a two-hour drive from Blythe, California, and a five-hour drive from Los Angeles.

"We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon state," Buc-ee's Real Estate Director Stan Beard said in a statement released in June. "Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area, Goodyear will be the place to stop."

The company anticipates the new store will create over 200 jobs in the Phoenix suburb. Buc-ee's is known for its wide array of branded food items, including its popular "Beaver nuggets," beef jerky, homemade fudge, fresh popcorn, and Texas-style barbecue.

Buc-ee's currently operates 56 locations across several southern U.S. states, including Texas, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The company has announced plans for further expansion, with six new locations slated to open in 2027.

Future expansion includes a Louisiana location expected to open next year and a tentative Utah location for 2028. Buc-ee's CEO Arch Aplin III has previously suggested that the company prefers to build in states with a more conservative, business-friendly, and family-oriented approach, which he believes aligns with the brand's values.
