Bryan Kohberger, who pleaded guilty last year to the University of Idaho quadruple murders, has been granted a new hearing as he seeks to withdraw his guilty plea. Court filings indicate the evidentiary hearing is scheduled for June 17, 2027.

In November 2022, Kohberger was arrested for the stabbing deaths of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kernodle's boyfriend, Ethan Chapin. The attack occurred at an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho.

Weeks before his trial was set to begin in July 2025, Kohberger entered a guilty plea to all charges. Under the terms of the plea agreement, the state withdrew its pursuit of the death penalty. He received four consecutive life sentences for the four first-degree murder counts, along with a 10-year sentence for the burglary count.

Last month, Kohberger filed a petition for post-conviction relief. In the petition, Kohberger, who was a criminology student at Washington State University at the time of the murders, claimed he was misled and coerced into falsely confessing. He also asserted that information crucial to his defense was withheld. The petition did not present new evidence.
